Piedad Romo-Leroux Girón

Piedad Romo-Leroux Girón (Guayaquil) is an Ecuadorian psychiatrist, university professor, and well-known children’s author with 56 volumes to her credit, including poetry, fiction, essays, and plays. From 1970 to 2008, she was the Chief Doctor of the Children’s Ward at the Lorenzo Ponce Psychiatric Hospital; from 2008 to 2010, she supervised the hospital’s Academic Council; and from 2010 to 2011, she directed the Santa Rosa Women’s Ward.

Teaching career

  • Principal Professor of Psychopathology and Clinical Psychiatry at the School of Medicine of the Faculty of Medical Sciences at the State University of Guayaquil from 1970 to April 30, 2011.
  • Professor of Child Psychiatry, in the Postgraduate Psychiatric Degree Program at the Catholic University of Santiago de Guayaquil the University of Guayaquil from 1995-2000.
  • Professor of Art Theory, Ethics and Organizational Behavior, General Psychology, at the Institute of Humanistic and Economic Sciences of the Escuela Superior Politécnica del Litoral (Polytechnic University) from 1991 to 2005.
  • Professor of Mental Hygiene, irregular children, Neuropsychiatry at the School of Psychology of the Faculty of Philosophy and Letters of the University of Guayaquil, from 1969 to 1971.
  • Professor of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, General Psychology, Mental Hygiene, Neuroanatomy, at the School of Psychology of the Technical University of Babahoyo from 1979 to 1994.
  • She has participated, giving conferences in her specialty at numerous Congresses, workshops, symposiums, national and foreign.
  • Her participations in the field of literature are innumerable, both for children and adults in the country and abroad.
  • Expert-Psychiatrist by the Public Ministry of the Guayas and Galapagos Provinces 2005-2006-2007-2008-2009-2010- 2011- 2012.2012- 2013- 2014-2015.
